I could barely keep my eyes open in a five-minute car ride. I was in my 20’s, “ate right”, and worked out regularly. What in the world was wrong with me?
At the time, I was an IT Consultant for a Big 4 accounting firm, traveled all the time, had two little kids, so I chalked it up to leading a busy life. My health continued to deteriorate and I just knew something was wrong. Finally, after many doctor visits and tests, I ended up with a disease diagnosis for myself and members of my family -- Celiac.
Instead of letting it defeat me, I was determined to use my diagnosis to change my life and the lives of many others.
Even if it meant turning our life as we knew it upside down.
My journey back to health prompted me to build t.Loft, Health Café in 2013. t.Loft is fast casual cafes focused on serving fresh, all-natural food and drinks. I've taken my passion and turned it into a multi-million dollar brand, including five t.Loft locations (and growing) in the Kansas City area. The business continues to amaze me and has provided amazing experiences from those in our community - from feeding the Kansas City Royals and visiting MLB teams for home games, café visits from celebrities and so much more.
This journey is a far distance from the IT Consulting world working for Big 4 Public Accounting firms that I grew up in. Now, I am ready to help others learn how to "take the leap" for themselves. Join me on this journey as I share embarrassing, fear-filled moments of leaving my corporate life behind to follow a passion.
